An agricultural show with over 170 live cattle may not be the most obvious technology showcase, but innovation was an integral part of UK Dairy Day.
As an immaculate line-up of Ayrshires, Brown Swiss, Dairy Shorthorns, Jerseys and Holsteins went on parade, Aplana’s mobile app provided tailored information and real-time updates to visitors while the UK Dairy Day website streamed live coverage.
In the knowledge-sharing zone, farmers and industry professionals debated a wide range of topics, while a display featuring the 12 most innovative new products captured visitors’ attention. Aplana, which is the UK Dairy Day’s technology partner and sponsor, is also technology partner of show organisers Holstein UK.
Holstein is Europe’s largest independent dairy breed society and the most comprehensive source of independent breeding information in the industry. It is the parent company of the Cattle Information Service (CIS), the UK's leading milk recording and health testing organization, and the Centre for Dairy Information (CDI), which provides data to improve production.
During its long-term relationship with Holstein, Aplana has delivered a range of specialist websites which can handle large volumes of data and make it accessible via mobile app, and a herd management application enabling farmers to manage their cattle more effectively.
With nearly 8,000 visitors and over 300 exhibitors, UK Dairy Day 2016 held at the International Centre in Telford was the third and largest show to date.
